A friend of mine gifted me on my birthday with a book titled, "500 Writing Prompts". And as the title says, it's a fairly thick book containing 500 writing prompts that range from incredibly thoughtful / emotional subjects to silly / ridiculous concepts. For the sake of authenticity, I'll be translating my writing in the actual book to this blog post so feel free to laugh if you come across that typo or weird FOB language. (I'm sorry) Bear with me as I try to make sense of my thoughts and organize them enough to write about these prompts.Write your own positive quote about growing older.
Growing older allows you to realize that change is inevitable; it doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad or somewhat negative. You begin to see that every waking moment is an opportunity to move forward, wherever you're moving towards is up to you but it's better to be in motion rather than stagnation. As the days go by, so do the years, and with them a renewed sense of life and recognizing that, "Wow, I am alive and that is enough for today". You'll begin to be more grateful for the little things, such as the extra 5 minutes of sleep after your snooze button or bumping into friends at your local coffee shop. Growing old is moving forward in age and also in experience, the you twenty years from now will be grateful for what the you today has done; remember that and take heart, you'll figure it out.
How do you handle confrontation?
Confrontation is a scary reality of the life that we live in. We are granted with the gift of human interaction but with that also the experience of confrontation and dare I say, emotional wrestling with another person. I tend to shy away from this scenario but when I do find myself in the middle of the battleground, I do one of two things; walk away or cry. Actually, I tend to walk away a lot and then come back to cry, my parents know this technique best because I have done it to them a few times. Regardless, I believe that confrontation is important to growing in one's emotional ability and mental composure; it lets you solve problems with the other person and opens a door to a deeper relationship with them. Also, it's okay to cry; sometimes you just can't help it.
Write a poem about the woods and include a mushroom.
The woods lie still in the bank of the edge, over the hedge and under the grove where she held my hand for the first time. It felt like a crime, she robbed the bank of my heart and ran away with its innocence, at the time it was the most precious thing I had. Until I had her. The trees whisper the sonnets she spoke, letters she wrote and it was the sweetest love song I had ever heard. If mushrooms bloomed, all the mushrooms in the forest were uplifted at the gospel tune in her voice; a ready singer and my muse. But like all the things in this world, her song came to an end. Now I stay here in the woods lying still, over the hedge and under the grove where she held my hand, listening for the tune to begin once again.
