Almond Blossom

Image result for van goghOur careful steps form vague footprints on the soaked sidewalk. It can rain heavily on some nights in Vancouver; tonight is one of those nights. I am holding your tan umbrella, shielding you from the turrets of rain overhead, and I guess I am fulfilling my role of being kind, even though I know that you are fond of this weather. The last thing I want though, is for you to catch a cold. I don't think your family would appreciate and that's why I am holding this roof over the houses of our bodies. One house that is only ever so slightly taller than the other. One house that stores stacks of records and the other with boxes of books. Two houses that share the same roof on this damp Friday evening, somewhere among the crowded streets, and sea of faces in the city.
